Is the Mojahedin ( MEK) Organization a Cult?

The Mojahedin-e-Khaleq ( MEK) is being bandied about as a viable successor to the Islamic Republic which is now tottering on collapse following nationwide protests the began some 80 days ago with the murder of 22 year old Mahsa Amini, an Iranian woman beaten to death by Iran's notorious Morality Police for not wearing the hijab correctly. The people of Iran have been protesting daily since then calling on the Irainan Republic and the mullahs step down. The protests have taken the notice of many of the world's leaders who are seeking a solution to the current animosities. One solution being talked about is having the mullahs leave government and have the Mujahedin-e-Khaleq (MEK) take over its reins of government BIG MISTAKE!!!
FIRST OF ALL:
The MEK is considered a terrorist organization who will use any means to gain what they percieve as ends( It was labeled a terrorist group but that label was removed by the US government to ensure the group could escape the wrath of the mullahs and guarentee free passage from Iran to Albania). In the past they have used a variety of deadly devices in their fight for legitimacy including suicide bombings, shootings and other forms of terror. They fought on the side of Saddam during the Iran-Iraq war and killed scores of Kurdish citizens including unarmed women and children among other barbaric actions. They also killed a number of Americans in Iran
But what sets the MEK apart from your regular terrorist organization is the cult like atmosphere of the organization. Leaders have been accused of authorian control over their followers by:
-Confiscation of assets
- sexual control including forced divorce of couples whereby the women are given to the leader
-emotional control
- sleep depiration ( a potent form of torture)
- limited exit options( you can't get out)
These are just some of the accusations that havebeen leveled at the organization. This is why it distresses me to see the MEK thrown about as possible successors to the mullahs in Iran.
Oh, and don't forget, the majority of Iranians despise the MEK with many saying they'd rather suffer under the mullahs then the MEK. World keep that in mind as you help the people of Iran chart THEIR OWN COURSE! To bring in the MEK to replace the mullahs would be as appropriate as bringing a burn victim to a fire-works show. Remember, it's the people of Iran that should decide who rules them and no one else! I say good luck and Godspeed to the people of Iran
