Thoughts Out Of Season

  Today millions of people are rejoicing in Sri Lanka at the resignation of Prime Minister Panil Wickremesinghe. The country has been plunged into chaos by economic devastation that has seen widespread food and fuel shortages, cuts in power and electricity sometimes lasting 12 hours a day, crippling inflation and even scarcity of medication to treat the most serious diseases. Lines for petrol snaked for miles through the streets u til the government outlawed sales to anyone but essential services like police, fire and EMS. Millions of people have taken to the streets in jubilation that the reigning government is now gone But what comes next? Who will emerge to take charge? Will it be the military who will restore calm using tactics, well that  militaries usually do? Will a military strongman come to power and install autocratic rule and put a clamp on democracy? Will it be a civilian government set on honoring all that democracy has to offer? Whomever is in charge is going to ...

  For some apparent reason the United States appears hell bent on provoking Russia into invading Ukraine. The White House has been incessantly beating the war drums for more than a month now. True, Putin has amassed an incredible number of soldiers and artillery on 3 sides of Ukraine's border but this appears more of a head-fake by Putin to draw the United States and its NATO allies into a position "put up or shut up" when it comes to Ukrainian sovereignty. For some reason NATO and the US in particular have a pressing need for war to break out in the region, whether to draw attention away from our bumbling president or to garner more dinero for the huge military- industrial complex. As of right now my opinion is that whether there's war or not it is the United States, particularly its babbling President who will end up holding the dirty side of the stick as far as history is concerned

What started as a protest against increased petrol prices has spiraled into the greatest existential threat to the Iranian regime in 4 decades. Millions have taken to the streets demanding government change, the end to corruption,police and government brutality Woman, it has been noted have been a driving force in these protests. The government has responded with brutal force, shooting and killing unarmed civilians, injuring over 3,000. These are just weak estimates as the government has virtually turned off the country's Internet apparatus in an attempt to hide what many believe are even greater atrocities. It is feared that many of those arrested will be executed. But the actions of the regime has not served to cower the people but to enrage and embolden them even more. A population who will swallow the incredible but will wretch at the first sight of the truth. We have two candidates for office who are better fitted hustling at carnivals, we got cops so frightened out there the first two chambers in their guns should be filled with blanks,we have "moral leaders of a sub population of people who will tear down half a city of a city if a cop steps on someones soul but turns a blind eye when the cities morgues are piled high with people killed indiscriminately by members of the same population, we have downright clowns like Al Sharpton and Carl Rove giving commentary on major issues on the various news programs. Farms getting paid well NOT to work, others calling for states to ban abortion and then couldn't give ...

The European Union is terribly pissed following revelations that the United States bugged EU offices in the United States and monitored telephone calls throughout the EU. Now why the Hell would you eavesdrop on your allies? Prevent attacks? Unearth plots? Gain advantage for US businesses? Business? That's right folks! I bet a thousand-to-one this bugging and eavesdropping were done at the behest of American businesses looking to gain a competitive advantage over our European allies. What else could it be? This administration is going to have a lot of explaining to do in the coming weeks. From the killing of the Farm Bill to Bugging Our Friends, it looks like armature hour for the U.S. government.

It's been a busy week tracking the grunts, groans and unintelligible moans of various members and aficionados of the Republican party. There was Texan republican Michael Burgess revealing that he has spent time watching ultrasounds of 15 week fetuses masturbating; there was Glenn Beck praising Eric Snowden who is wanted by the United States for one of the most shocking cases of espionage in the country's history and the defeat of the $500 million dollar Farm Bill which hands out welfare payments to American farmers who then spend a portion of that money to elect legislators who then go and try to take similar payments away from non-farm owners such as senior citizens and single mothers with dependent children. Man this is like watching the worst damned reality show in the world, so bad that you can't wait for the upcoming week's episode to see what absurdities will be perpetrated next.

Who ever is advising this guy Eric Snowden either does not have his best interests at heart or doesn't understand the current political environment in the United States. The Republican Party has such a visceral hatred of President Obama that they would embrace Satan himself if in doing so they could score points against the current administration. So Eric, don't drive yourself crazy running around the world from one dismal country to the next, come back home and face the music and don't worry that much because the GOP will have your back.
