How to REALLY survive a subway ride

 These are some tips to surviving a subway ride iǹ NYC I learned when I was in my teens living in the Bronx:

If it is late at night or if you come to a deserted platform, STAY IN SIGHT OF THE TOKEN BOOTH CLERK UNTIL THE TRAIN ARRIVES!

When riding the train always:

Ride the first car with the motorman or the middle car with the conductor

NEVER EVER RIDE THE LAST CAR

That's it. Follow these simple instructions for a safe trip every time

 Sitting up in bed today at 430 am with my old pal Insomnia my attention turned to the television: " MORE THAN 100 FIREFIGHTERS ARE BATTLING A 4 ALARM FIRE IN AN UPPER EAST SIDE BUILDING ON FIRST AVENUE" "Oh shit!" I jump up out of my stupor. My ex-wife and daughter live together on the Upper East Side on First avenue!
