Trump's Legacy: America's Rapid Descent into Lunacy and Irreverence
I've lived in the United States all my 59 years and always had my doubts regarding the sagacity of its masses. It has always been a place where lies and bullshit were swallowed in gulps like thoughtless alligators while the truth saw so little sunlight if it were a person it would be severely vitamin D deficient. A place where the majority are still not convinced the world is round but too embarressed to admit it. Its been that way all my life and I had gotten fairly used to it up until the past several years. I feel as if I am now on an out of control merry-go-round which is going faster and faster while it is surrounded by a brick wall. This country has completely lost it, sort of like the dancing hysteria of the middle ages. Let me try to explain what I mean
First of all there was the election of Donald Trump as President. Now I can go on endlessly pointing lunacy after lunacy committed by this man but I'll point just one thing out.THE MAN WAS A LANDLORD! An upscale slumlord. I don't know about anywhere else but in New York City a landlord is held in less esteme than a squeegee guy at a busy intersection. I mean I lost 2 inches in height seeing him sitting in the same office JFK and even Jimmy Carter once lounged in
COVID further unmasked the profound idiocy of the American people. Tell them that drinking their own urine would keep the virus at bay and they gulp it down by the pitcher. Ask them to put on a mask to stop from spreading the virus and immediately they began making comparisons to the Thirdd Reich. Inoculations? Fugettaboutit. They contain microscop chips in them where the government could keep tabs on you night a day as if the government had nothing better to do than keep tabs on some Appalacian knuckle dragger who's idea of fun consists in spreading nuts on his little patch of grass and shooting the squirrels that stop by for a nibble.
Sadly, 19 children are killed by some psychotic who walked into a store, bought 2 assault rifles and hundreds of bullets with the ease of a child buying a stick of gum. The Supreme Court responded quickly to this tragedy by striking down New York City's gun law as unconstitutional before the last body was removed from the school
Ah! And yes the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, the capo de tutti capi of the of courts, with gaiety disregards the intense passion which the Right To Choose is held by at least 167,000,000 Americans to cater to a cadre of sooth-sayers, snake oil salesmen, practitions of hocus pocus and other such backyard chicken pluckers, in essence the Religious Right whose who put saddles on replicas of dinosaurs and whose last worthy contribution to society occurred before the invention of the wheel.
Now I'm not one of those who go around threatening to move to Canada or Calcutteras a matter of fact because although things can get distressing at times here in the USA, the show is to a entertaing to miss. It's sort of like going to the circus where although the elephant may relieve his bowels right in front of you the stench isn't so bad that it distracts you from all the other goings on
So I guess I'll invest in a a good amount of popcorn, sit by my window and keep myself amused by crowds of conservatives, clowns, and other such wobbly tightrope walkers that come into view.
